Brewer responds to her xenophobic statement on Friday

The governor responds

Jan Brewer responds to the national attention to her false statement.

The Arizona governor issued the following statement after her comments earlier today made the national cycle. The Three Sonorans called her comments an attempt to increase her support among the xenophobes in this state.

“There has been some media attention in the last several hours regarding statements I made this morning regarding the level of drug and crime activity being perpetrated by illegal immigrants coming into and residing in Arizona. The simple truth is that the majority of human smuggling in our state is under the direction of the drug cartels, which are by definition smuggling drugs.

“It is common knowledge that Mexican drug cartels have merged human smuggling with drug trafficking. For example, the Los Angeles Times on March 23, 2009 reported, ‘The business of smuggling humans across the Mexican border has been brisk, with many thousands coming across every year. But smugglers affiliated with the drug cartels have taken the enterprise to a new level – and made it more violent – by commandeering much of the operation from independent coyotes, according to these officials and recent congressional testimonies.’ This article and many federal government reports have drawn the same conclusions.

“The human rights violations that have taken place victimizing immigrants and their families are abhorrent. Border crossers are used by drug cartels as commodities. Mexican drug cartels have merged human smugglers who use their expertise in gathering intelligence on border patrols, logistics and communication devices to get around even tighter controls. U.S. border officials have stated that traffickers are gaining control of much of the illegal passage of immigrants from Mexico to the United States.”

  1. Oh Jan… It has to be real hard to hold a position you were never elected for and get criticized for everything you do. Good thing the election is coming up soon.

  2. How do the Democrats win elections in Arizona? By letting Republicans talk!!  These comments just shows how unqualified she is to be Governor. Scary!!!!

  3. Jan Brewer inherited a mess and is doing everything she can to straighten the mess out.  I don’t agree with her on some things, but it is other people’s ignorance, not hers, that is creating this controversy over the illegal immigration bill. We need more like her, faults and all.  At least she’s trying which is more than Washington is doing.

  4. I think Jan Brewer is doing a fine job and needs to be reelected. Look  who she ahd to take over from, Miss useless, as shown in her present position. We get rid of Grijalva and Giffords in November, we’ll be heading in the right directon again.

  5. The unelected Brewer is just a puppet for the white supremacist movement coming out of Phoenix.  It is vital that, in November, we boot her from office, as well as the other racists behind all of this legislation that is dividing and destroying our state.  Then we can repeal the legislation, end the worldwide boycott of Arizona, and finally restore sanity to our great state.

  6. USA should be for European-Whites only. All others need to voluntarily leave or be deported to their land of origin using the new laws we shall pass. Immigration from any other nation except Western European countries should be totally halted. Vote for the White people’s party, the Tea Party. Arizona is a good start; it will help Arizonians send a clear message. We are tired of these minorities dirtying up our land and polluting our nation and white culture.
It’s true Jews are stealing our money and national assets, Cubans, Haitians and their children are trashing a state like Florida to a third world degree and are we to expect these illegals are going to be model citizens. Let’s deport them all.
