UPDATE 6pm: Three Sonorans has just learned that John Ward’s is claiming $1,000,000 in damages from the director of Mexican-American Studies and another teacher.
Interestingly enough, KGUN9 got a hold of the complaint before the Ethnic Studies teachers, probably because John Ward and Jon Justice, number two johns dropping deuces on justice, were bashing Mexican-Americans once again on the Jon Justice show which is owned by the Journal Broadcasting Group, which also owns KGUN9.
For more info on the ongoing boycott of Jon Justice, and how you can help click here for more info. The current businesses that continue to support Jon Justice, and thus are being boycotted themselves until they stop their financial support of hate radio, are below:
Just as Jon Justice used his media position to get a Latina leader fired, or for this week calling for Sheriff Dupnik to resign for his statements about all the hate and vitriol in the media, we can use our media position to get his sponsors to pull their support of hate radio.
We already got one business to do so.
Park Place, (520) 745-2625
Tucson Mall, (520) 293-6003
Five Star Termite & Pest Control
1002 South Pantano
Tucson, AZ 85710
(One person already canceled a $600+ job with them.)
614 East Glenn Street
Tucson, AZ 85705
These are just economic facts. These businesses directly make the Jon Justice Show possible. Without all his advertisers, he would not have a show.
And these businesses have this extra money to give to Jon Justice because of you the consumer.
If you and your friends do not do business with these businesses as long as they financially support Jon Justice, then you are not financially supporting Jon Justice indirectly through them.
And if most of their customers let them know they do not like Jon Justice, and if they want to keep their customers, they will have to listen to them to keep their patronage.
And if you love his daily hate attack on Mexican-American youth, then be sure to only patronize those businesses above. Spread the fear, spread the hate, and spread the wealth from your wallet to Jon Justice’s pockets.
Simple economics. You decide.
Free market vs. Free Speech.
Original story from earlier today
What do HB2281, which bans Ethnic Studies in Tucson, and Libya have in common? Answer: Both were condemned for human rights violations by the United Nations.
You may remember Armand Salese as the TUSD board candidate who last year compared Ethnic Studies at TUSD to “basket weaving.”
I wrote about that and made a video of him saying that. I wondered at the time if it was harsh, but then I remembered that they were his own words that he said in front of an audience while running for school board.
Now I feel no regret at all.
Salese, who is also an attorney, is representing el vendido John Ward, who is tied with Steve Montevendido as the worst Latino in the state. It was John Ward’s twisted view of Ethnic Studies, and his anger that the true history didn’t match up with what Ann Coulter’s ex Dinesh D’Souza was teaching him (Ward wanted D’Souza to be read in Ethnic Studies courses).
Ward also slammed books down and left cussing up a storm in front of underage schoolchildren when he was mistaken about history and was corrected by his co-teacher in the class who was keeping John Ward’s right-wing untruths in check.
Some people have trouble accepting the truth about this country, that while it is great it was also the home to slavery, to oppression of females and minorities to this very day, to exploitation of the poor here and overseas, and much much more.
But in today’s Arizona, even though more minorities enlist in the military and win medals in higher proportions than their population nationwide, it is these soldiers and students that are seen as “overthrowing the government” while those wrapped in the Confederate flag are seen as patriots.
John Ward was on the Jon Justice Show today and proudly featured in the anti-Ethnic Studies group TU4SD website. Hate attracts hate in this state.
John Ward (not to be confused with Ward Connelly) says that the claims of his slamming books down and cussing in front of students is not true, and this seems to be the basis of his claim. He has an uphill battle despite having the support of haters like TU4SD and Jon Justice since so many people witnessed this.
But of course, when has any of these attacks on minorities, such as HB2281, written by Tom Horne, ever been about truth and justice. Overt racism is shunned nowadays (but making a comeback), so one must use indirect methods of cloaking their true intentions.
Why else would one spend so much time going after a small program that has saved the lives of so many students? A program that takes some failing minorities and gets them to pass the AIMS test and graduate.
John Pedicone and Mark Stegeman fired every teacher at Rincon and Palo Verde because of low AIMS scores… now you have a program that has teachers that gets failing students to pass the darn test and now they are at risk of being fired!
Don’t be deceived.
Just as we can look back with objectivity and see the racism in past generations, the clear attack on minorities in Arizona and in TUSD will be clear as day to historians.
Actually, it is clear as day to any observing what is going on in this state with Russell Pearce as senate president, Jan Brewer as Governor, Tom Horne as Attorney General, John “I will stop La Raza” Huppenthal, Steve Montenegro as House Speaker pro tem, and a group from Oro Valley in the Amphi school district calling themselves Tucsonans.
Then again, John “We will cut Ethnic Studies over a budget cut” Pedicone not only doesn’t live in TUSD but doesn’t live in the city of Tucson either.
He gets to escape the consequences of his decisions as he travels to the foothills in Oro Valley, and with UA Economics professor Mark Stegeman leading the board, no wonder the minorities that make up more than 60% of the school’s population are dismissed and ignored in exchange for money.
Welcome to Arizona 2011, where our leaders through their disastrous decisions make the citizens closer to revolutionary change every day.
