As we understand it Dr. Pedicone says TUSD is in crisis. Pam Powers mentioned that he is also going on a trip to do consulting in Korea.
Guess we can see who comes first.
She also stated that he might be taking some TUSD employees with him. We understand there are some who happen to be taking vacation at the same time. Are they also his employees? Public employees typically have to fill our Off Duty requests to have second jobs. If they work for him have they? If so who approved them? If they have not filled them out why? Are public resources being used to underwrite a private business?

Representatives from Tucson Unified School District are
traveling to Korea as part of the district’s Tucson-Korea Ambassador Program,
which is run through TUSD’s Asian Pacific American Student Services program.
Dozens of Korean student ambassadors come to Tucson each
year to stay with local host families and partner with TUSD students to learn
about our community and culture. TUSD students also travel to Korea each year to
experience their culture. The program is designed to facilitate cross-cultural
understanding and to deepen global relationships.
This latest trip includes principals from the district’s
three host schools – Sabino High School, Safford K-8, and Townsend K-8 – and the
district superintendent. The purpose of the trip is to meet with educational
leaders, students, teachers, and families, along with the mayors of the Korean
communities that sponsor the ambassador program, to review and expand the
objectives of the program.
The trip is sponsored entirely by the Korean communities of
Ulleungdo and Shinan-gun. There is no expense to TUSD or Tucson residents.

Cara Rene,
You have responded a question I did not quite ask, did the District pay for his travel. What I have written below I think reflects this. I asked 5 questions. I had a series of questions that together created context for my query.
I asked if any TUSD employees did work or were employed by Dr. Pedicone?
Secondly, do TUSD employees have to fill out a request form to have an outside job?
If so, were forms filled out if any TUSD employees do work for Dr. Pedicone’s consulting firm?
If so, who signed off on them?
If the answer to the third question was no. Then the next question was why was that the case?
The question of TUSD potentially underwriting Dr. Pedicone’s business was in the context I have reiterated above.
The question was not, has or would TUSD overtly directly pay form travel expenses. The question was grounded in the prior questions.
If there are any TUSD employees who do work for Dr. Pedicone consulting business, its to
easy to pick up the phone during the work day an ask oh by the way did you get that letter out, or did you make that call or what should we do at that meeting? So in that way TUSD resources get used.
Let me thank you in advance for forwarding to me answers to these questions. Please feel free to email me through Facebook.
Thank you,
Steve Leal
Why ignore all but the last two sentences when the rest of her message explains why these questions are apparently irrelevant? Are you saying the district is lying?
I have asked questions before reaching conclusions. I assume they will answer these questions. Don’t you.
What is this waste going to tell the Korean people. Arizona ranks a D in education and 50th? What does facillitating cross-cultural understanding and deepening global relations mean? You, mean like getting rid of Mexican American Studies? What does expanding objective mean? You mean, he is there to Bullshit the people in Korea?
